Oakmont
Baptist Church has recently moved into its new sanctuary.
We were contracted to begin working with Oakmont’s design
team in January 2002. This design team was comprised of a
committee including several staff members. Oakmont knew they
wanted the latest technology for their new building and we
worked with them to facilitate their goals. Many hours were
spent putting their audio/visual needs on paper, planning
that nothing would be overlooked. This was a long term project
and required us to watch the building and make sure everything
needed was in place during the building process.
During
the construction process it is crucial that the project be
well managed in order to insure that all the necessary conduit
and systems pre wiring are met. This insures a smooth project
and eliminates project holdups. We were onsite to install
blocking and supports for our hardware before the sheet
rock went up. Due to the height of the ceiling, it was imperative
that we hang
the speaker cluster before the large construction lifts
were taken out of the building. We worked all night hanging
the speaker clusters to avoid holding up the project. The
project was completed in September of 2003. We very much enjoyed
working with the team at Oakmont. It was a very challenging
and rewarding project.
A
little about the system…
Audio
system
11,400
Watts of actual
audio power reside at Oakmont. They drive 9 Worx Audio
speakers. There is a 40
Channel audio board for FOH/Monitor mixing in the main
sanctuary and a 32
Channel audio board for their television control room.
They also have the capability of pre configured mixes to allow
fewer people to control more hardware and to automate the
system for simplified use.
Video
system
3-3chip cameras reside on fully
remote controllable pan/tilt heads for mastering DVD’s
of their services. They have a series of switchers/routers
for distributing the video signal.
Projection
System
2 high output LCD
projectors for the main congregation are used for computer
graphics as well as video playback support. They also have
one projector that provides the choir with computer graphics
as well. Any or all of them can be switched to any signal
at the touch of a button using an AMX control system.
Lighting
System
98 dimmer banks handle the architectural and theatrical
lighting. We were involved in the initial lighting design,
however recommended that Oakmont work directly with the lighting
designer recommended by us.
Control
System
AMX is integrated into the system at Oakmont. They have a
12” touch-screen
installed next to the audio board for the main sanctuary.
This enables the operators to control all three screens &
projectors, DVD Player, CD/Tape player, MD player, etc…
The beauty is that the user only needs to know that “
I want to show computer A to all 3 screens and to do that
I press this button”. It is as easy as that.
Distributed
video & audio
Oakmont has several TV’s located throughout the building
from classrooms
to the welcome
center, where you can see one of many things, but are
primarily used to show the video feed from the Sanctuary.
